What is diving in Dahab like?
Canyons, archways, and coral walls start metres from shore, with 30m drop-offs a few kicks out. The Blue Hole is the signature site, but Eel Garden, the Canyon, and the Islands each hold their own. Visibility runs 25–30m most of the year and water temperature sits between 20°C in winter and 28°C in summer. Almost no current. Shore access means no boat loading, no wasted time.
What is life like working in Dahab?
At work
Days start around 08:00. Tanks and gear load into pickups for short drives to shore entry sites. Usually 3–4 dives per day across guiding, teaching, and DSDs. Shore-based diving means no boat schedules. If conditions are good and a student needs another dive, you do it. Back by mid-afternoon. Night dives and afternoon DSDs are standard in peak season.
After work
Shared flats or rooms above dive shops are the norm. Most dive pros live walking distance from the lagoon. Evenings mean falafel, shisha on the waterfront, or rooftop chillouts in Masbat. Days off bring freediving off the lagoon, hiking in the Sinai interior, or desert walks to the coloured canyon. It is a small town. Everyone knows everyone inside six months.
