Bonaire

Bonaire is a shore diving island. Almost every dive site is accessed directly from the beach. Walk in, descend, dive the reef at your own pace. The marine park is protected: no fishing, no anchoring, strict buoyancy standards. Sites like Karpata, Hilma Hooker wreck, and 1000 Steps offer good variety. Visibility typically 20–30m, water 26–28°C year-round, light to no current.

Pay varies by role, shop size, and season. Accommodation deals can change the net picture significantly.

Bonaire is a special municipality of the Netherlands, but EU freedom of movement does not apply. Dutch nationals can live and work with minimal formality. All other nationalities, including EU citizens, need a residence permit, and the employer needs a work permit under the BES employment rules. Employers must show no local candidate was available, so processing takes time. Visa rules can change and working without the correct permit is illegal.
